This specialized textbook was acquired with extensive damage to the front cover that made the original case binding unsuitable for preservation. The binding was carefully removed, the spine was reinforced, and the volume was rebound using new endpapers, headbands, archival boards, durable book cloth, and a custom paper spine label. A bespoke dust jacket was designed and printed to complement the new binding.
Because the previous owner was a notable contributor to the field, the restoration was planned to preserve the original flyleaf bearing his signature. Incorporating this element into the finished volume retained an important part of the book’s provenance while providing a durable, functional binding for future use.
This textbook was originally bound in a modern glossy paper case that had deteriorated beyond practical repair. The original case binding was carefully removed, the spine was reinforced, and the volume was rebound using new endpapers, headbands, archival boards, and durable book cloth. A custom paper spine label completed the new binding, providing a durable and attractive replacement designed for many more years of use.
This classic work of physics was structurally sound but had a loose, severely frayed cloth binding that no longer provided adequate protection. The original case binding was carefully removed, the spine was reinforced, and the volume was rebound using new endpapers, headbands, archival boards, and durable book cloth. A custom paper spine label was added to complement the new binding, and a bespoke dust jacket was designed and printed to complete the restoration.
A before and after example of a hinge repair using adhesive and high strength long fiber repair tissue.
This antiquarian book was found to be in stable condition, making conservation the preferred approach over full restoration. A custom-fitted clamshell case was created to provide long-term protection while minimizing handling wear. The case is covered in durable book cloth and features a labeled spine, allowing the volume to be easily identified on the shelf while coordinating aesthetically with surrounding books.
This four-volume set of Dmitri Mendeleev’s chemistry works required structural hinge repairs to stabilize each volume before a custom protective enclosure was created. The completed project includes a precisely fitted slipcase covered in durable book cloth and individually labeled spines, providing both long-term protection and an elegant presentation on the shelf.

This Korean War-era military report was hand typed by a notable U.S. Navy admiral. Originally bound between paper-covered boards with a metal folding prong, the binding had deteriorated due to corrosion, and several pages had torn and separated at the punched holes.
The damaged pages were carefully repaired, and the report was rebound between new cloth-covered boards using a durable threaded post binding. To preserve the character of the original document, the illustration from the original front cover was incorporated as the new title page, creating a binding that is both historically respectful and suitable for long-term preservation.
